two pages fully written H u m a n i t i e s
Conduct online research on museums in California. Choose one museum website to write your one to two-page report on. Report may be double spaced with font no larger than 12 points. Proper MLA format is required. I will only accept Word or PDF files. Report must consist of one to two pages fully written, this does not include the title or cover page where the art work you chose from your research should be presented.
Once you have chosen a website for the museum, you will select two separate works of art and save the photo of the work of art along with its accompanying description. In the title of each paper be sure to include:
- Museum Name
- Title of the Exhibition(s) the work or works are in.
The body of your paper should focus on your understanding of why the two artworks captured your attention. In other words, why do you like it? Demonstrate your ability to use the language of visual arts in explaining why you like these works of art. Be sure to include:
- How your eye moves around the work? Think about how the artist manipulates the viewer’s eye and leads the viewer through the composition and by what means? Does the artist do this by using: texture, repetition, contrast?
- Where is your attention drawn to in the work of art and why?
- Which elements and principles of design were used to create the composition?
- What significance does the work have and what does it mean to you?
The principles of art and design are balance, rhythm, harmony, proportion, variety, contrast, unity and movement.
The elements of art and design are line, shape, form, space, value, color and texture.
What is the difference between the elements and principles of art and design?
The elements of design are the basic components involved in creating a design. The elements are the tools that will help you with your design. … The principles of design are the rules you should follow in design for the best outcome.
Important Note:
The two images of the art pieces chosen, along with the information about the works of art must be included on the title or cover sheet, but not included with the one to two-page report because this will not count. In other words, you shall not write only one paragraph or a few sentences and complete the paper with the images you chose. This will not be accepted and points will be lost for for not following directions and for not fulfilling the requirement.
The information about the art works chosen must include: the museum website the art piece was aquired from, the artist name, title of artwork, size, date or year art work was created and media used.
Included on a separate module are the principles of design along with their corresponding definitions. Also included is an explanation of how the elements and principles differ.
