Comparison of Data
Initially, I thought that the vaccine would show that if you are fully vaccinated and you caught covid once, you would not contract it a second time and become a reinfection case. However, contrary to my belief, I had about 2% of the breakthrough cases becoming a reinfected case, and a 2% rate for hospitalization and mortality compared to unvaccinated cases with a 93% reinfection rate and an 8% hospitalization and 0.19% mortality rate among the reinfected case. However, although this percentage is low, which is good and show how effective the vaccines are, based on published research, the vaccine is supposed to lower your chances of being hospitalized or dying, and since these cases caught covid once and became a breakthrough case, I was expecting that the vaccine and the natural antibody within the body would boost the immune system and prevent reinfections and hospitalization and death in reinfected breakthrough cases. Yet, the fact that fully vaccinated people, who caught covid once, are contracting covid a second time, where some died or were hospitalized, which contradicts the research (Cavanaugh, 2021).
Significance of the Health issue
My results show transparency about the effectiveness of the vaccine against the virus among, reinfection, deaths, hospitalization and comorbidity, and other factors, which can motivate others to take the vaccine and reduce vaccine hesitancy. However, the data also showed the gaps between research and actual data, which might differ from region to country, but it shows that no vaccine is 100% effective, there are always of risk of breakthrough cases, hospitalization, deaths, and reinfection, but there is nothing to fear because being unvaccinated comes with a bigger risk than being vaccinated.
Other Areas of Significance
My data showed that the cities that had the highest prevalence rates, and surprisingly those cities had both the highest vaccinated, reinfection, and unvaccinated rates. Therefore, it gives others an idea of what cities to target, what they are working with, and how to go about it. Also, research showed that Hispanics and Blacks have the highest prevalence, unvaccinated, and reinfection rates, yet my data showed Caucasians, and Hispanics had the highest prevalence, unvaccinated, and reinfection rates.
Balance of Data
The reason why it’s important to balance data with existing information is that it provides others with more insight on the topic from different perspectives and research methods. This is because sometimes one person’s research can be biased and does not reflect the same results as other research done on the topic.
