disproportionate representation within culturally diverse groupsfederal definitions H u m a n i t i e s
There are an infinite number of ways that a learner with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, or a traumatic brain injury (TBI) may present deficits in cognitive functioning and in adaptive behavior. An integrated perspective on these exceptionalities will help you have a better understanding of the students you may serve as a special educator.
Create a 350- to 550-word quick reference that summarizes the following:
- Historical and current perspectives regarding the way individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are viewed and treated
- Explanation of disproportionate representation within culturally diverse groups
- Federal definitions for the following:
- Intellectual disability
- Developmental delay
- Traumatic brain injury
- Explanation of the etiology and prevalence for each of the following: intellectual disability, developmental disability, traumatic brain injury
Additional information about the Quick Reference completion
Do not make this an essay paper. This is a QUICK Reference. The object of the assignment is to create a document that is easy to view and easy to use. Think about creating a short document, something that YOU would use to help you locate, or help you remember, the information. Make a chart, use bulleted points, headings, etc., which is the easiest and quickest way for someone to locate the information.
Be succinct in explaining the information that is required. It is okay to go over the word count, slightly, to get the information down, but don’t go over 700.
Presentation-style methods, such as PowerPoint, are not appropriate for this assignment.
Must Include APA formatted in-text citations and separate, but attached, Title and Reference pages. If you use the actual federal definitions, you will be over the 10% allowable, and that is okay. It can’t be more than 35%, because of the citations and references.
